Adidas Originals Men's Black/White Handball Spezial Sneakers, DB3021
Adidas Originals Men's Black/White Handball Spezial Sneakers, DB3021
The Handball Spezial arrives here in its classic black-and-white makeup — a black cow suede upper with white leather 3-Stripes and a gum sole that keeps the shoe close to its late-'70s indoor-sport roots. First released in 1979 for elite handball players, the Spezial has become one of Adidas's most recognizable terrace silhouettes without losing the low-profile shape that made it practical on indoor courts in the first place.
This version uses a suede upper with a soft gum rubber outsole and a low, flat profile that sits close to the ground. Gold Spezial branding along the sidewall and the T-toe construction keep the vintage detailing intact, while the thinner tongue and collar give it a lighter feel than chunkier terrace models. The gum outsole adds grip and keeps the shoe from feeling overly stiff straight out of the box.
If you're deciding between the Handball Spezial and the Samba, the Spezial fits noticeably roomier with a softer feel through the upper. The Samba is narrower, stiffer, and more structured, while the Spezial leans more relaxed and comfortable from day one.
The black suede and gum sole work especially well with relaxed denim, olive cargos, or straight-leg trousers. It keeps the vintage terrace look without feeling overly sharp or dressy.
